![]() ![]() Step 5) Right click on the mount.cfg file and press Open with, then select Notepad from the list that appears. This is the configuration file you'll edit to tell Garry's Mod where your Counter-Strike: Source server is. In here, there should be a file called mount.cfg. Step 4) With your Garry's Mod folder open, enter the garrysmod folder, then the cfg folder. This will open another File Explorer window where Garry's Mod is installed. ![]() Right click on it and press Manage > Browse local files. Step 3) Open Steam and find Garry's Mod in your library. Press CTRL+C to copy this, as you will need it later. Step 2) Enter the cstrike folder then click on the folder path at the top of File Explorer, this will give you the text representation of the folder's full path. You will now see a listing of various folders and files, you are looking for the cstrike folder which contains the Counter-Strike: Source content. Then enter common, then Counter-Strike Source Dedicated Server. You should now see a new folder inside it named steamapps, enter that folder. Step 1) Navigate back to the folder where you extracted SteamCMD to. Now that you've downloaded and installed a Counter-Strike: Source server, you can configure Garry's Mod to mount the content. Please now proceed to the next section of the guide. You have now successfully downloaded and installed SteamCMD. ![]() Step 6) When SteamCMD finishes updating, you should see a few messages similar to what's in the screenshot below. Step 5) A console window should open after executing the file, then patiently wait while SteamCMD downloads any updates that are needed. Run this executable by double-clicking on it. Step 4) Now navigate into the folder you created, inside you should see an executable file named steamcmd with an icon similar to Steam. Step 3) Extract the ZIP file that you downloaded earlier into the new folder you just created. For simplicity sake, I will create a folder called SteamCMD in My Documents. It doesn't matter where you create this folder or what you name it, as you won't be accessing this it often once you're done. Step 2) After downloading the ZIP file, navigate to somewhere on your computer's drive and create a folder for SteamCMD. You will not regret it.Step 1) To begin, click here to download a ZIP file containing SteamCMD from the Valve Developer Community website. This game is absolutely amazing, but I do genuinely wish that Valve would take a bit of time out of their day to patch the Gift Grab achievement back in. I believe that even though this game is upheld by community servers (there is no Valve servers unlike other Source games), that Counter-Strike:Source will continue to be played and enjoyed by many, especially with the community server gamemodes and cultures. I genuinely love this game, its probably my favourite Counter Strike even though I play CS2 more, and even if you don't like Counter Strike this game still has fantastic usage as assets for Gmod. This is frustrating for those who like to achievement hunt, but its not something I would hate the game for. What separates this game from DoD:S however is that in DoD:S, you can simply change your date to December 15th of 2011 and still obtain the achievement, while in CS:S the ability to do that is actively removed due to a version change, locking the Gift Grab achievement forever. Left 4 Dead 2 and Team Fortress 2 enable these achievements every Christmas time like they are supposed to, however DoD:S and CS:S do not. You get the Gift Grab achievement by playing during Christmas time and picking up 3 presents from enemies. The games in question are Left 4 Dead 2, Team Fortress 2, Day of Defeat: Source, and Counter-Strike: Source. You see, Valve has 4 games in the Source Engine with 1 particular achievement called Gift Grab. It's pretty easy to just hop on and play Counter-Strike: Source, and unlike CS2 Valve hasn't removed achievements from this version, which is both good and also bad at the same time. It's got all that classic Source charm with the phenomenal gameplay of Counter-Strike and being way more friendly to newer computers than CS2. Counter-Strike: Source is probably tied for the most nostalgic entry in the series along with 1.6 and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, this game still hits different even today. ![]()
